The schedule from you know where... it's a work in progress as it is the only schedule completed on this side of the school.
It has been the easiest of transitions so far- moving from the lower 48 with a giant dog back to Toksook Bay. I was a little nervous about meeting the new staff, meeting my new roommate, and even wondering if the local community members would remember me. The good thing is that I had nothing to worry about... the new teachers have been settling in quite nicely, my new roommate is very easy and fun to chat with, and I can't believe how many people have stopped me on my walks home to ask me how my summer went and to welcome me back. It has been a pleasant return back to the cold coast of Alaska.
So far, in the last few days, I have been trying to put my classroom together- it is still a giant mess as I am trying to figure out how a dual language classroom is suppose to look, all while helping others ( I am amazed at how quickly they have put their classrooms together and how at peace they are with all of the unknowns) and unpacking the boxes that I had sent up for the apartment. But it's all coming together quite nicely- in a crazy chaotic sort of way.
I am still waiting to hear the knocks on the door in the evenings. I have seen very few students in general and normally they want to come and visit. I want to see their faces and see how they have changed over the summer- but that might have to wait until Tuesday when school starts.
It's weird to not see some of the familiar faces that once roamed these halls, but I am confident that with the newbies- we can make this another good year. I am looking forward to District Wide Inservice when I can do some grocery shopping and meet up with some friends- as well as work on the Fall Festival and my new classes that start up soon as well. So all that to say- it is going well, and there will be more pics to come- once things look a little more put together:)
